WE Engineering has been a partner of Solar Team Twente since 2008.
For the 21Connect, the solar car for the World Solar Challenge 2011, WE Engineering created a new rear wheel design. This design is fully optimised by using FEM-calculations. The aim was saving weight yet keeping enough strength to be able to cross a cattle grid at full speed. Furthermore, this design is fitted with a Formula 1 changing system, to be able to change a tyre very quickly in case of a breakdown.
